Welcome to Lasting Legacy Farm
Local Raised Meats from our family for your family
We have a large family and care about them deeply. With all of the reports about chemicals and hormones injected into our food, as well as food recalls on the rise and all of the medical problems possibly associated with this current trend in food production, we seriously asked ourselves food related questions. Food wasn't meant to be this way ... was it? We should be able to feel good about the foods we eat...... shouldn't we? Why are our foods so questionable? Jon and I decided it was time to take matters into our own hands and make sure our family had hormone and chemical free food. Thankfully, we already had a farm. All we needed were the animals and commitment to make this work.
What started out as simply a family project has unfolded into a full time business. We purchase our animals from local farmers at an early age. There are several reasons for this ~
We don't have enough land to carry moms, dad and babies required to sustain ourselves and feed some of the community that has no ability to raise animals. The farmers that we get our livestock from would rather raise the moms, dad and keep the babies until they are weaned from mom. This practice guarantees that we know what the animal has consumed at all stages of its life.
Our philosophy is that we are the animals’ stewards. It is our responsibility to the animals to ensure that their lives are as healthy and carefree as possible. If you visit our farm, you will see that there are large green pastures for the cows to wander, or perhaps just to take a sunny afternoon nap on. The pigs have a large pen where they can run, play tag, and just do piggy things. Have you ever seen a pig pile?
Raising animals is a lot of hard work, but we believe it is a worthwhile endeavor. Once you’ve tasted farm -raised meats, you’ll notice the difference. The security of food begins with knowledge of where your food comes from, how it was raised and it was cared for.
We believe that the source of food should create a sense of confidence and beauty, being picturesque to see and behold. After all Mother Nature is to behold with awe. One should be able to taste a full flavor and feel the nourishment that good food is meant to provide the body.
Mother Nature has given us the template to work within and the guidelines to follow.
Our ancestors understood the commitment, care and work ethic that went into the food that they ate. They did not take it for granted. The animals were respected and appreciated. Great care went into their breeding stock and the foods they ate.
You know the old saying "You are what you eat"!
Everything was cherished and nothing went to waste. Everything had a purpose and a value. Meat was especially valued and great care was taken in its preparation and storage. Communities worked, lived, and ate as one.
We hope you find this site useful in your exploration of locally raised meats. If you need further assistance or would like to discuss any further questions, please feel free to contact us. We will be glad to answer any questions regarding prices, orders, and special occasion reservations.
